9-3-08 Booster Club Meeting Minutes
In Attendance: Elizabeth Carlson, Phyllis Kubacki, Pam Reedy, Dawn Somervell, Trichia O’Keefe, Julie Goodwin, Pam McLean, Christie Schmidt, Michelle Maxam, Beth Irwin, Sarah Wiggins, Sue Chaney, Nancy Rapson, Jacinta Larsen, Jim Meadows, Ed Weber
Coach Weber presented the following information:
● Policies & requirements to earn a varsity letter. A handout was distributed. Must have 80% attendance to receive a varsity letter.
● Pay to Play is $180, due now. A handout was distributed.
● All Tuesday and Thursday dual meets begin at 6:30 p.m. Girls are expected to be in the water by 5:30 p.m. so they are to be at the pool by 5:00 p.m. For away meets, the buses leave at 4:45 p.m.
● Team photos will be taken on 9/4 at 2:15 pm
● New Asst. Coach, Dave Le, assisted by his brother, Joe Le. Joe handles dry land with JV swimmers.
● 6 Girls are needed at each boy’s team home meet to help with timing
● Tom Willett is the AD for swimming
● Discussion of wants and needs for the swim team, equipment needs, etc.
Coach Weber explained the service project for Plymouth Fall Festival: Girls are to sign up for a 4 hour shift. The sign up will be at the pool this week. The girls will check in at the volunteer check-in station behind the pavilion. There are many stations for volunteers. The team receives money from the rotary club which is used to purchase needed supplies and equipment.
Elizabeth Carlson, Booster Club President presented the following:
● Scratch & Donate Fundraiser: Nancy Rapson turned in the full $100 raised on the card. Her gift back was $20 in cash. Nancy advised the Board that she did not like this fundraiser as the coupons had little or no value. Everyone was encouraged by Elizabeth to continue attempting to complete this fundraising project.
● Meet Treat Volunteers: The following parties are the meet treat coordinators for our 5 home meets:

10/7/08 Sue Chaney
10/16/08 Christie Schmidt
Swimmers and divers will be given a brown bag filled with an apple, fudge strip cookies and a juice bag. Bagels are no longer available free from local bagel shops so the club has decided to eliminate bagel sandwiches this year.
● All girls are encouraged to participate in the Big Sis/Little Sis meet gift exchange and to keep the cost to $3 or less per meet.
● Sign-ups for all volunteer opportunities are complete
● Our Coin Harvest held at the Ice Cream Social netted $311.00.
● Bowling Fundraiser – Saturday, 10/25/08:
Dawn Somervell and Pam Reedy are working together to coordinate this fundraiser.
It will be from 12 – 3 p.m. at Plaza Lanes on Ann Arbor Rd. Cost is $15.00 per person for two games of bowling, shoes, pizza and pop. ($7.50 of this goes to the team) There will be great baskets for raffle along with 50/50, mystery and lucky strike. A flyer will be coming home soon with the girls.
● Room 96, JV Study Hall:
Discussion was held regarding room 96, JV Study Hall. Volunteers are still needed for Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:15 – 3:45 p.m. (adapted- Mondays are needed as of 9-15)
● Chili Cook-Off / Lions Club Fundraiser – Saturday, 10/5/08:
Jim Meadows, dad of swimmer Ashley Meadows, came and presented information on the Lions Club / Chili Cook Off Fundraiser. Our girls will be walking around with Lions Club members asking for and collecting donations for parking motorcycles. The Lions Club needs about 40 + girls to help from 9 am – 3 pm. The bikes will be parking on Ann Arbor Trail, Main St., Penniman & Forest. We need girls to volunteer in 2 hour shifts, 9-11 am, 11 am – 1 pm, and 1-3 pm. All money collected is turned in to the Great Lakes Regional Chili Cook-Off and shortly thereafter a donation is given to the Lions Club who will then give a donation to the CHS Girls Swim & Dive Team.
A sign up sheet will be prepared and given to the captains for completion by the girls.
● Jim Meadows advised that Frank Mucci, owner of Mucci Foods will donate the pasta noodles for our pasta dinner. We need to advise Jim of how much and what type of pasta is needed 1 week before the dinner.
● Cost to get into swim meets is $5.00 per adult. This is handled by the Athletic Dept. An annual pass is available through the Athletic Dept. of each High School. Information can be found online.
